Pinnacle Partners with Bit9 to Help Retailers Address PCI Compliance Standards

05.27.2008 – ARLINGTON, Texas – The Pinnacle Corporation announced today a strategic partnership with Bit9, Inc. to help retail customers meet the stringent policies required by the Payment Card Industry’s (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS).

The partnership between Pinnacle and Bit9 includes the OEM distribution of the Bit9 Parity enterprise application whitelisting solution with Pinnacle’s Palm POS product line. Bit9 Parity will provide a heightened level of security and control for Pinnacle retail customers.

Bit9 Parity enables Pinnacle clients to control and lockdown their workstations to meet and exceed the requirements of PCI DSS standards while maintaining the Windows user interface. Pinnacle’s independent QSA partner, Coalfire Systems, has certified the Palm POS v9.2 solution with Bit9 Parity, ensuring the joint Pinnacle-Bit9 solution meets PCI DSS and Visa’s Payment Card Best Practice standards requirements.

“Our relationship with Bit9 has taken our PCI compliance options for Palm to a new level,” said Drew Mize, VP Product Management and Marketing at Pinnacle. “This new combined solution allows us to provide our clients with a more flexible and robust set of tools to ensure implementation of our solutions in a PCI compliant environment.”

“Global retailers are realizing the operational, compliance, and security benefits of employing the Bit9 Parity enterprise application whitelisting solution to protect their POS systems,” said Doug Cahill, VP Corporate Development and Product Management at Bit9. “The combination of the Bit9 enterprise application whitelisting solution with Pinnacle’s robust Palm POS offering provides retailers with a unique, packaged PCI compliant solution.”

Bit9 customers include companies in a wide variety of industries, such as retail, financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, telecommunications, as well as government agencies. Founded in 2002, Bit9 is privately held and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
