Software Industry Executive Ron Nordin Joins Bit9 Board of Directors
02.25.2008 – Boston, Mass. – Bit9, Inc., the pioneer and leader in enterprise application whitelisting, has appointed Ron Nordin to the Bit9 Board of Directors. Nordin brings over 20 years of executive-level experience in the software industry and serves as an advisor, board member, and investor in early-stage technology companies. He has been a successful CEO who has led early stage companies through rapid growth to IPO and beyond, and has served as a principal investor for one of the top venture capital firms in the United States and Europe. He joins the Bit9 board of directors to help guide Bit9’s rapid growth.
“Bit9 grew rapidly in the past year and has become the emerging leader in endpoint security and enterprise application whitelisting,” said Nordin. “Whitelisting is a completely new paradigm for endpoint security and manageability. It’s very exciting to have game changing technology and to be part of a powerful team leading the next generation in this industry. With the proliferation of unknown malware, zero-day threats, malicious targeted attacks, and data leakage, existing solutions including antivirus and endpoint protection suites are not able to keep up. Rather than constantly chasing viruses and malware and forever falling behind, Bit9 allows the approved applications to run, easing the burden of managing desktops and protecting them at the same time.”
Ron Nordin was a senior partner at Atlas Venture in Boston, where he invested in a number of software and Internet companies, including eRoom Technologies, which was acquired by Documentum in 2000 in one of the largest private software transactions of the year. Prior to Atlas, he was president and CEO of SQA Inc., a venture backed enterprise software company. He led SQA from a start up to a dominant player in the software quality assurance sector. Under his leadership, SQA had a successful IPO and became a highly valued public company. SQA was acquired by Rational Software, which in turn was acquired by IBM. Nordin established his career early at Cognos, where as senior vice president, he served on the executive team that developed the company from a start up through its IPO, helping it become one of the major players in the software industry.
“Ron is an excellent addition to the Bit9 Board of Directors, bringing a wealth of industry experience and knowledge,” said Patrick Morley, CEO of Bit9. “His operations experience and skill in piloting technology companies through rapid growth and into powerhouse players within the industry will be invaluable.”
