Remote-Learner.net, Inc. (http://remote-learner.net) and Kaltura (http://www.kaltura.com) announced their partnership to offer educational institutions advanced video capabilities integrated with the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). Using Kaltura’s video module for Moodle educational institutions can launch rich media e-learning programs, allowing lecture delivery, video commenting and feedback, social networking, & note-taking with interactive video. Remote-Learner is now offering the Kaltura Moodle solution to its customers at a fraction of the cost of other solutions in the market.
“The partnership between Kaltura and Remote-Learner once again demonstrates the power of open-source software to deliver cost-effective, compelling learning experiences,” said Bryan Williams, Remote-Learner CEO. “With Kaltura we can offer our clients the ability to seamlessly integrate rich-media capabilities into their Moodle course with a cost effective, robust technology. Teachers and students will have the ability to share video, audio and pictures with each other using only their browser and a web cam.”
Using the Kaltura module for Moodle, teachers can upload and manage rich-media content, including lectures, demonstrations, photos and audio recordings. Students can then post video comments, ask questions and create a face-to-face discussion recorded directly from their webcam or other sources. The module also includes Kaltura’s Video-PowerPoint Widget, which presents a video and a slideshow in full synchronization.
“We are delighted to partner with Remote-Learner to further expand our reach into educational institutions’ e-learning programs,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman & CEO. “As our video solutions are deployed by some of the nation’s leading universities, we are seeing loads of new and exciting EDU video applications being created using our flexible open source platform, including library digitization, internal YouTube-like applications and much more.”
“With Kaltura’s module, our clients will be able to create activities for their students that were impossible before.” said Jason Cole, Remote-Learner Chief Learning Officer. “We can now move the e-learning experience beyond words on the page and include real-life performances. Kaltura’s easy to use, low cost media platform will have significant impact on teacher training, performing arts education, language learning, physical education and distance learning.”
