In the The Forrester Wave™: Online Video Platforms, Q1 2013 report Kaltura had the highest score in the “Current Offering” category, and was cited as having “the most feature rich platform” among the leaders. According to the report, the company’s “extensible open-source platform is a midpoint between build and buy” and its “API-driven approach, open source platform, and large ecosystem of third party extensions are attractive to customers looking for flexibility in how they deploy video publishing capabilities.” The report adds that “unlike other video platforms in this Forrester Wave with a narrower target market, Kaltura targets media and entertainment, enterprise (both internal and externally facing use cases), and education.”
In the The Forrester Wave™: Video Platforms for the Enterprise, Q1 2013 report Kaltura had the highest score in the “Strategy” category. The report states that “Kaltura’s modular approach, extensibility, and partner ecosystem for software integrations differentiate it as a middleware platform.” The report further states that “unlike any other vendor in this evaluation, [Kaltura] can serve video publishing needs for internal communications and external marketing and has customers using it for both,” and that “because of this focus on ‘internet plus intranet’, [Kaltura] has many publishing features and a user interface on par with what employees expect from consumer experiences today.”
“What an honor it is for us to receive such a recognition from one of the most prestigious and recognized third party research firms in the world,” said Kaltura Chairman and CEO, Ron Yekutiel. “We believe the two reports clearly highlight the uniqueness and strength of Kaltura’s open, flexible, and collaborative approach. This approach is truly the only scalable way for a company to maintain ‘the most feature-rich platform’ whilst addressing the widest target market and most diverse set of use-cases.”
Forrester separately evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of five online video platform vendors and eight enterprise video platform vendors against a total of 21 and 23 criteria respectively in three major categories – current offering, strategy and market presence. Current offering was benchmarked across topics such as video file ingest options, metadata and search support, workflow, deployment models, , monetization features, analytics and reporting, integration, scalability, and security. Strategy was measured against the vendor’s differentiation and road map, enterprise track record, and partners and support. Customer base and total revenue were measured to determine market presence.
