Boston, MA – August 14, 2014 - Attend.com, a leading provider of event management software solutions, today announced it has completed its $3 million Series A financing. The investment is led by .406 Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies. Attend.com is using the investment to bolster its management team, strengthen its product to accelerate growth and scale, and further its competitive advantage in the event management industry.
The additional funding was driven by the early market success of Attend.com and comes at a strategic moment in the company’s growth. Within the last 12 months, Attend.com grew its staff twelve fold, expanded its office space in Boston and added hundreds of customers. The company plans to continue that growth in 2014 by adding employees across all functions to support the company’s rapid expansion. The hires will include multiple senior-level executives to achieve its operational objectives and expand into new market segments.
Matt Engel will join Attend.com as the company’s President and CEO and will join the Board of Directors. Engel comes to Attend.com with more than 11 years of experience growing technology companies through initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Engel was a partner at Prism Venture Partners and continues to serve on the board of Sonian, a cloud-based archiving and search company. Matt’s prior operating experience includes executive roles at Dyn, Inc., a growth-stage software-as-a-service (SaaS) infrastructure provider, and GeoTrust, a SaaS provider of secured socket layer (SSL) certificates, which was acquired by VeriSign for $125 million.
Today’s event planners and marketers are faced with many complexities during the event management process, but the two leading pain points are personalizing each attendee’s experience and proving an event’s return on investment. By leveraging Attend.com’s software, planners are equipped with an end-to-end solution that provides the insights needed to streamline every aspect of the planning and production process. Attend.com enables planners to gain access to event analytics and data from different sources, such as attendee payments, registrations, email invitations, attendee walk-ins and attendee satisfaction surveys. The organizations can engage with each attendee in a personalized way and quickly measure event investments to improve future activities.
According to Engel, “Organizations are demanding software that can help simplify and automate the event management and marketing process, enabling far more effective and engaging relationships with customers and prospects. With the backing from .406 Ventures, we will build on Attend.com’s success to date by focusing on market-driven product development, high-value integrations and partnerships and meeting the industry demands of prospective and existing customers.”
