Cambridge, MA and New York, NY, October 13, 2009
Epic Records, a leading record label owned and operated by Sony Music Entertainment, has partnered with Kaltura, (http://www.kaltura.com), developer of the first open source online video platform, to power the Chevelle Remix Site as part of the promotion of the new Chevelle album ‘Sci-fi Crimes’, featuring the hit single ‘Jars’. The newly launched site allows Chevelle fans to create their own ‘Jars’ music video using Kaltura’s open source video platform including its online remix tool. The site can be seen at http://www.chevelleinc.com/videoremix.
“The value of Kaltura’s technology to us is the ability to encourage fans, both casual and die-hard, to engage on a deeper level with the Chevelle’s video. The user interface is simple and easy which makes it inviting to all, regardless of their skill level in video editing,”” said Jason Lekberg, Marketing Manager at Epic Records. “Video has proven to be one of the most engaging sources of content online and this tool provides us with extra exposure to help make up for the shrinking placement opportunities on the traditional music video channels.”
The Chevelle Remix Site allows fans to create a ‘Jars’ music video by mashing up images, video, and the ‘Jars’ soundtrack provided by Epic Records, taken from the new Chevelle album. Using Kaltura’s platform, users can drag and drop clips from the clips library, add transitions, effects, overlays and more.
“We are experiencing growing demand from agencies and brands for user-generated campaigns. Our remixing tool has proven to boost user engagement and time spent on site,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman and CEO. “We are excited and proud to partner with Epic Records and Chevelle”.
