IBC Hall 3 Stand c67 and New York, NY,
Kaltura, the leading video technology provider, today announced that Vodafone Spain has chosen Kaltura OTT TV to power new VOD and catch-up services on its Vodafone TV service.
Vodafone Spain chose Kaltura because of its OTT TV platform flexibility and scalability, and the company’s proven experience in delivering OTT deployments. The new services will help Vodafone Spain to boost viewer engagement without having to roll out new hardware, as well as to attract new subscribers.
The new services let subscribers access a vast and growing catalog of on-demand and catch-up content, from the STB. Relying on Kaltura’s backend OTT TV software, subscribers enjoy a fully personalized experience including advanced content discovery, recommendations, favorites and watch lists.
All the STBs run a dedicated Vodafone Spain-branded web application, which integrates with the catch-up metadata, and subscriber management on the Kaltura backend, deployed in the cloud. For Vodafone Spain’s fiber subscribers, the new services also feature rolling buffering, adaptive bit-rate and on-the-fly encryption to further enhance the experience.
"Working with Vodafone Spain on this project, with such ambitious launch dates, has been extremely rewarding. By launching new OTT services on their STBs using our modular, unified backend, Vodafone Spain is opening up a world of on-demand content to existing and new subscribers. It will also allow them to build new revenue streams. We look forward to partnering with Vodafone Spain on the next deployment phase,” commented Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Co-founder, Chairman and CEO.
Kaltura OTT TV is aimed at operators, broadcasters, media companies and content owners around the world who want to launch an OTT TV service quickly and cost-effectively. Many of these customers are racing to broaden their services and monetize their content on multiple devices.
