Needham, Mass., August 6, 2009 – RatePoint Inc., a leading provider of customer feedback and online reputation management services for small-and-medium size businesses, announced its co-founder and chief technology officer, Mike Rowan, was selected by the Boston Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 honoree for 2009.
The 12th annual award recognizes outstanding and up-and-coming business leaders of the greater Boston area under the age of 40. This year’s group will be honored Oct. 1 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.
“Boston’s competitive advantage is its collective brainpower,” said Michael Olivieri, publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “Our ‘40 Under 40’ class reflects the deep talent pool that gives Boston its economic edge.”
Rowan is a business innovator who has risen through the ranks to become one of the area’s leading technology executives. As CTO of RatePoint, Rowan is responsible for technology developments that drive RatePoint’s SaaS technology. Rowan oversees all IT staff and developments of RatePoint’s suite of products, including product reviews, customer feedback collection and promotion, email marketing, dispute resolution and surveys.
RatePoint’s solution has garnered awards such as the Video, Search and Social Media Sector Product of the Year from the Massachusetts Network Communications Council (MassNetComms) and was selected as a finalist in the Marketing and Customer Relationship Technologies category for the 6th Annual MITX Technology Awards. The company recently was honored with the “Company Most Likely to be a Household Name in 5 Years” award by MassNetComms.
“Mike is a talented visionary who is well-deserving of this 40 Under 40 distinction,” said RatePoint CEO and co-founder Neal Creighton. “His leadership and commitment to innovation have driven the success of RatePoint’s platform. The entire team at RatePoint is thrilled to see him receive this honor.”
Beyond his work at RatePoint, Rowan gives back to the local Boston community through a number of civic and philanthropic activities. Rowan and his wife started Project Holiday, an organization that collects holiday and seasonal items from retailers following the holiday seasons and then distributes those to needy children. They also are active in Hearts United for Animals, which works to shut down puppy mills. They’ve been active in the organization for 10 years and have personally adopted three dogs as a result of this effort.
Rowan’s previous experience includes the director of the advanced technology and engineering group at GeoTrust, later acquired by VeriSign, and he founded or cofounded and served as CTO of several companies, including NetSense Internet Solutions, Castlerea Technologies and mVPN/mPKI.
