Boston, MA - June 8, 2016 --
Threat Stack, a leader in cloud security and compliance management, today announced it has signed an agreement with Synergy Investments for a larger space located in downtown Boston to accommodate its current headcount and anticipated increase from 40 to 70 employees by the end of 2016. Threat Stack also formally announced the appointment of Kevin Durkin as Chief Financial Officer. Both announcements come in the wake of Threat Stack’s $15.3 million investment news, following a year of record growth in 2015.
Threat Stack’s new 13,768 sq. ft. space at 55 Summer Street in Boston, presently occupied by Yahoo!, is more than three times the size of the company’s current location just down the street in the Innovation District. Despite the short distance between the current and future offices, the move will place Threat Stack in Downtown Crossing, and on a growing list of emerging technology companies moving across the channel and into the city to expand.
“We are thrilled to welcome Threat Stack to the Synergy Portfolio, following a highly competitive selection process,” said Matthew Godoff, Director at Synergy Investments. “The 55 Summer Street office space is a great fit for Threat Stack’s rapidly growing business and recruitment efforts. Threat Stack’s tech leadership in the Boston market made it an exciting choice for us, and we look forward to providing them with the workspace and facilities they need to continue their growth trajectory.”
The ultra-competitive selection process for the seven-year lease involved naming three finalists from an impressive pool of applicants, before ultimately extending an offer to Threat Stack. The group’s decision to select Threat Stack is a testament to the company’s proven success in a rapidly growing market, and its commitment to continue moving the company forward. Threat Stack’s current team of 40 employees will move to the new location in early August. The company expects to grow to more than 70 employees by the end of 2016.
In addition to the office expansion, Threat Stack has brought on Kevin Durkin as Chief Financial Officer. Durkin will harness his experience building emerging technology companies to help scale Threat Stack’s overall finance and administration, supporting the company’s continued growth and expansion. Durkin brings more than twenty years of financial and operational leadership experience to this new executive role. Prior to Threat Stack, Durkin was CFO at DataGravity and Azuki Systems (later acquired by Ericsson). Durkin began his finance career at Deloitte where he worked for a number of high-profile companies including RSA, Cisco Systems and Salary.com.
“We’re excited to welcome Kevin to the team and, at the same time, to hit a significant milestone in our growth story,” said Brian M. Ahern, CEO and chairman of Threat Stack. “As a Boston-based company, our new location in the heart of the city is ideal and will help accelerate our external and internal growth.”
Already, Threat Stack has achieved significant milestones in 2016. It kicked off the year by launching its award-winning Threat Stack Cloud Security Platform™ (CSP), and announced integrations with Slack. It also expanded its leadership team with the additions of Ariel Tseitlin to its board of directors, and Leigh Merrigan Moore as VP of Marketing; and welcomed SessionM and PagerDuty as customers.
