01.11.2010 – Waltham, MA – Application Whitelisting industry leader Bit9 announced today that InfoWorld has awarded Bit9 Parity with a 2010 Technology of the Year Award.
The awards, which also credited Microsoft, Google, VMWare, Sun Microsystems, Amazon, Dell, and Cisco, among others, identify the best and most innovative products in the IT landscape for 2010. Application Whitelisting technology, the InfoWorld article stated, is the next generation approach to IT security, and Bit9 has established itself as the top vendor.
Bit9 Parity™ Suite 5.0 takes application whitelisting to a new level by providing key visibility, knowledge and control features that give IT administrators a view into what applications are running on their endpoints at all times. Along with this new view, IT professionals also have the ability to control configurations and applications that are not authorized.
“Bit9 has long been a leader in [the application whitelisting] space, but it’s capability of linking application control to reportable risk metrics puts it in a class by itself,” stated Roger Grimes, Security Advisor for InfoWorld. This combination of assessment and control options, “not only raises Bit9 Parity Suite 5.0 above competing whitelisting products, but most security products in general.”
For Bit9, the award is further confirmation of the need for application whitelisting technology to provide organizations with proactive protection and simplified IT management. In the current cyber security climate, in which patches can lag behind malware in the wild, recognition of Application Whitelisting by InfoWorld couldn’t be timelier. “This recognition from InfoWorld highlights the innovation behind Bit9 Parity,” said Patrick Morley, CEO of Bit9. “The award is a tremendous validation for the product, our strategic vision, and most of all the Bit9 team.”
