11.22.10 - Waltham, Mass. - Bit9, Inc., the leader in Advanced Threat Protection, has won a 2010 American Security Challenge (ASC) Pilot Award. ArcSight, an HP company and a leading global provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions, selected Bit9 for the Pilot Award competition, validating Bit9’s unique approach to detecting and protecting against custom and targeted malware.
The American Security Challenge is the only event in the United States devoted to bringing the latest and best security technologies to market for our nation's homeland security. Under the auspices of the National Security Initiative, the objective of the Challenge is to increase the visibility of innovative technology and help the commercialization process so that such technology can reach either the public or commercial marketplace faster to protect our citizens and critical assets.
The ASC Pilot program enables technology customers to “test-drive” a potential solution against real-world stresses. If an applicant’s (Challenger’s) technology satisfactorily passes the Pilot, the customer has contract vehicles and funding to procure further. This pilot program is intended to help qualified buyers and sellers of innovative technology accelerate the deployment process. Pilots will begin Q4 2010 with go/no go decisions targeted end of Q1 2011. Each customer may have different processes but all are driven to solve an immediate problem as quickly as possible.
"Bit9’s innovative solutions are exactly the type of technology the customer believes can deliver real and immediate security advancements today," said ASC Chairman Roger London. "We don't simply award demos just to benchmark technology performance, but rather we set up true pilots with qualified and engaged customers to accelerate the introduction and ultimate deployment of valuable technology by connecting innovative vendors like Bit9 with legitimate customers looking for innovation."
"Being selected for the renowned Pilot Award validates Bit9’s leadership role in protecting government and enterprise networks from the Advanced Persistent Threat and targeted security attacks,” said Doug Cahill, vice president of Business Development at Bit9. “We look forward to working with customers as part of the pilot program, bringing the value of endpoint threat detection to ArcSight ESM via our recently announced certified CEF connector. Bit9 takes a proactive security approach and maintains the world’s largest software intelligence database that validates the integrity of more than seven billion applications to provide next-generation endpoint security.”
Bit9 Parity Suite for ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager
Bit9 and ArcSight offer a comprehensive solution to isolate, detect and prevent today's modern malware and targeted attacks that are commonly defeating traditional endpoint security defenses. Bit9 Parity Suite for ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) extends the visibility provided by market-leading ArcSight ESM, providing real-time endpoint application whitelisting, software reputation and unauthorized change event information in the ArcSight console.
By integrating Bit9 into ArcSight ESM via a certified connector based on the common exchange format (CEF), customers will be able to aggregate, filter, correlate, and analyze security-related events on critical endpoint resources – operating system, applications, devices, files, registry and memory – all from one user interface, helping drive down management costs while increasing malware detection and prevention.
