02.29.12 - Waltham, Mass. - Bit9, the global leader in Advanced Threat Protection, today announced the results from an independent test demonstrating that Bit9 Parity Suite outperforms the competition in protecting against Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks.
According to Gartner, at any given time two-to-eight percent of enterprise PCs are infected with malware. Moreover, these cyberattacks impact most businesses, as 90 percent of businesses have fallen victim to a cybersecurity breach in the past 12 months, according to the Ponemon Institute.
In tests conducted by the Tolly Group, an independent test lab of third-party validation services, Bit9 Parity Suite outperforms the competition in stopping advanced malware, while providing unrivaled protection against attacks. Tolly Group conducted a review of APT attacks that were blocked and not blocked by vendors. The test lab conducted five specific attacks on both laptops and servers, and then compared the performance results of three vendor’s security solutions to prevent the specific attacks. In all five cases, Bit9’s proactive, trust-based security solution blocked the attack and protected the system.
“This side-by-side test provides buyers with confidence that Bit9 delivers on its promise of protecting enterprises’ valuable intellectual property from malware attacks,” said Kevin Tolly, founder of the Tolly Group. “Bit9 Parity Suite stopped all five exploits that compromised laptops and servers in these tests.”
Symantec SEP 12.1, stopped only three out of five attacks, and McAfee Endpoint Protection Suite, blocked only one out of the five malicious attacks. In the case of Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP1, Symantec and McAfee’s security solutions were incapable of securing the test server which allowed each attack to gain access and control. Only the Bit9 Parity Suite’s Advanced Threat Protection Platform was able to secure all test endpoints and servers.
Bit9 CEO Patrick Morley said, “Bit9 developed this market because we recognized that antivirus and behavioral security solutions were not stopping the advanced malware being used to steal trade secrets and intellectual property from some of our largest corporations. This test verifies that our approach to using advanced threat protection better protects the endpoints and servers of our government and enterprise customers than legacy security solutions like antivirus and behavioral HIPS.”
