Zappos, a leading online apparel and footwear retailer, announced today that it has selected Kaltura, (www.kaltura.com), developer of the first open source video platform, to further enhance its use of video as an effective retail tool. Zappos will deploy Kaltura’s enterprise video solutions, including its cross-device video player, media management system, interactive features and monetization tools across the zappos.com website. Zappos will also leverage Kaltura’s video analytics to better track how customers are consuming video.
“We have been using video on zappos.com for some time now, which has proven to be a very effective medium for e-commerce. Videos on our product pages have not only increased purchases, but have also lowered product churn and returns,” said Laurie Williams, Sr. Manager - Photo & Video at Zappos. “Therefore, we decided to step-up our use of video even further by adding more videos, new interactive features and more. When searching the market for an experienced provider with the level of features and flexibility that we needed, Kaltura offered the best platform on the market to fit our needs today and in the future.”
“We are excited to be working with Zappos, a leading retailer and pioneer in the industry. The combination between Zappos’ company culture and innovative team plus Kaltura's vibrant technology community and flexible enterprise video tools is a perfect fit,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman and CEO. “Kaltura has created specific packages and solutions for our target industries – Enterprise, Education, Media and Service Providers – with targeted video tools and features for the various use cases in each industry, for example e-commerce within the enterprise industry – this strategy has proven to bring the most value to our customers, since it is geared towards answering their needs in the most granular way.”
